Only the fourth addition to LEGO Technic’s Ultimate Car Concept series, the toymaker’s latest Ferrari set is something to behold. An enormous, highly detailed, surprisingly high-fidelity kit, LEGO is offering customers the opportunity to make their own Ferrari Daytona SP3.

Measuring in at 5.5-inches (14 cm) tall, 23-inches (59 cm) long, and 9.5-inches wide, the completed car is a 1:8 representation of the full-size supercar. As a result of the size and complexity of the kit, it also contains 3,778 pieces, which makes it a big project that should likely only be tackled by experienced builders.

That complexity, though, gives it some pretty neat features. The model has, appropriately enough, a V12 engine that contains moving cylinders. That’s pretty impressive on its own but there’s more. The car even has a working eight-speed sequential gearbox that you can operate with the paddle shifters in the highly detailed cockpit.

“No detail has been overlooked in the design and as someone with an engineering background myself, I’m blown away by the attention to detail and precision of the model at such a small scale,” said Niels Christiansen, LEGO CEO. “We’re incredibly lucky to be able to partner with Ferrari to help fans turn their dreams into a reality as they build this standout example of racing excellence for real with this new set.”

Requiring less expertise from the builder but no less essential to the model’s overall impressiveness, the car is finished in Ferrari red, gets prancing horse logos, butterfly doors, and even has wheels that are finished in a striking lacquered silver.

“It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with the LEGO Group on this model, a stunning replica of our limited-edition Daytona SP3 supercar,” said Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari’s chief design officer. “Thanks to this outstanding recreation with LEGO elements, Ferrari and LEGO fans can now build this car piece-by-piece and feel like they are participants in the assembly process, with the opportunity to display the final model in their own homes, where they will be able to appreciate its beauty.”

Available exclusively at LEGO stores starting on June 1, and then at other retailers worldwide as of August 1, the set is priced at €/$ 399.99 in Europe and the U.S. and £349.99 in the U.K. For those who are really excited about this set, LEGO is also offering a coffee table book that goes into the development of the model and the toymaker’s collaboration with Ferrari. Limited to just 5,000 copies, it will be available exclusively at LEGO.com starting on June 1.
