The device now comes with an optional phone charging dock and $70 price tag.

Thanks to smartphones, bedside alarm clocks have all but gone extinct. But for those who would rather not snuggle up next to their phone, there are a few smart options, including Lenovo's Smart Clock 2 with Google Assistant and a wireless charging dock.

The second-generation device, which comes in blue or gray, is on sale from Best Buy for $69.99(Opens in a new window) —$20 off the original $89.99 price.

A reimagining of the original Smart Clock—both feature triangular fabric-covered bodies; 800-by-480-pixel screens; and a 1.5-inch, 3-watt front-firing speaker—the latest version adds an optional wireless charging base with built-in night light.

For non-touch-screen controls, you'll find rubber volume buttons on top of the clock; the back features a connector for the included power adapter and a mic mute switch for when you're not making calls via Google Duo.

Dock the device with the 8.5-by-3.3-inch base for access to a USB-A port. The clock slots into a recess on the left side, with a plug sign to the right marking the wireless charging area.

The 4-inch screen shows the time (obviously), highlights weather reports and upcoming calendar appointments, and acts as a digital picture frame for Google Photos. Swipe left and right to switch between clock faces and any alarms you've set, or pull up for settings and down for a virtual menu.

Users can also listen to music or podcasts and interact with Google Assistant to control other connected home products. Or link it to a Google Chromecast or Android TV to turn the clock into a smart display.

Take advantage of Best Buy's deal and get a Lenovo Smart Clock 2 for $69.99(Opens in a new window) —22% off the $89.99 retail price.
